Cushion seals are also known as dock pads. They provide a better seal than dock shelters but are less tolerant of a varying vehicle fleet. The cushion seal height can be varied by using a deeper head pad or curtain, Armo also make wedge shaped pads that are wider at the front than they are at the back thus closing a door opening that is slightly too wide.
Cushion seals are made using high density closed cell foam encased in heavy duty PVC – some models also have wear plates in addition to the front material to increase the durability of the seal.
When the vehicle reverses on to the cushion seal it compresses the foam as far as the dock buffers allow thus creating a seal between the vehicle and the building. Commonly cushion seals are 300mm wide and the internal clear opening size is approximately 2250mm wide x 2500mm high, they are installed at warehouse floor level.
Cushion seals are mainly used on temperature controlled stores where the compression of the pad gives a tighter seal and maintains the tight control of temperature and energy losses that this type of facility demands.

After discussing requirements with our Becky in the sales team, Armo quoted for the supply and installation of three pit mounted dock levellers, dock buffers and dock plates, and cushion seals. We were happy to receive the order not long after and get this new installation project underway in North Yorkshire. Armo supplied three Swing Lip Dock Levellers model ARSL in standard size, so we were able to supply these from stock in our Telford warehouse. Standard swing lip dock levellers are 2000mm
