Dock shelters and loading bay modifications for new Manchester client

A new customer to Armo contacted us in June 2016, as they had a problem with their loading bays. Our Client is an established and recognised supplier of decorative lighting to the very best specialist lighting retailers, multi-national chains and distributor partners across the globe.

They had a requirement to take double deck trailers, but the height was causing damage to their dock shelters. We were able to help following a site visit by quoting for some loading bay modifications.

We quoted for two ARSF Fixed Frame Dock Shelters, in a size of 3450mm overall width, 4100mm overall height with projection of 900mm.  The width of the front curtain was 650mm and the length of the head curtain was 1500mm.

Our heavy-duty fixed frame dock shelters are suitable for accommodating vehicles of varying heights, whilst at the same time providing an effective seal. These were installed at a height of 5400mm from yard level making the shelter suitable for overall vehicle heights ranging from 3950mm to 4900mm.

Following on from this, we also modified the dock leveller lips to be replaced with 540mm lips and new hinges, the longer lip enabling the client to bridge the bigger gap created by double deck trailers

Finally we also supplied and installed two pairs of ARDB Buffers which were 2500mm wide x 450mm high and projection of 150mm.  These heavy-duty rubber buffers are mounted onto primed and painted 15mm backing plate, which are then welded to the leveller frame on one side and secured into the concrete dock face on the opposite side.
