A construction partner contacted Armo in March requesting a quote for 8 Dock Levellers to be supplied and installed in Nuneaton as the current Dock Levellers in place were had been condemned as they were mechanically operated and unfit for purpose.

After a site inspection, Darrell Hopwood, Armo’s Managing Director, quoted for 8 Armo Swing Lip Dock Levellers, model ARSL. In the quote Darrell noted the current Dock Leveller’s in place were incorporated in pits with non-standard pit width, depth and length. This meant the lead-time would be slightly longer than if the pits were suitable for standard sized Dock Levellers.

An order followed shortly afterwards with an installation date of April confirmed. Darrell Hopwood said of this project “non-standard Dock Levellers are made to order and always require more work on site so thus increasing the completion date. On this occasion we are pleased to have met the deadline and signed off in two weeks.”

The non-standard Armo Swing Lip Dock Levellers, model ARSL, for this project were 1700mm wide x 2000mm long mounted in a suspended frame in a 550mm pit. The Swing Lip was made to be 400mm with a 5° curvature suitable for loading above dock. The load capacity for these made-to-order dock levellers was 6 tonne single axe in accordance with British standard for dock levellers BS EN 1398.

The Swing Lip Dock Leveller is robust in construction and manufactured by Armo’s robotic production line. The swing lip model is more commonly used format in general warehousing and is supplied with a number of standard options.
