Our client is Europe’s main importers of fruit and are leading the global market in organic and fair-trade fruit. They have been trading with growers all over the world for over 50 years are looking to do so for another 50 years.

We have created a new loading bay in an existing building, this was achieved in two phases.

  1. Firstly, we created an opening and installed AROD Insulated Sectional Overhead Door. Then we ensured all the cladding, barriers and brickwork are made good.
  2. Secondly, we prepared the pit ready for the Dock Leveller to be installed. The upstands were added to the dock levellers and the rear protective plates and Protection Bollards are added to the loading bay. Then we installed the LED traffic light and loading bay light. We then installed the vehicle stops and wheel guides to the loading bay area and then finally we installed the Install Salvo safety system.

All details on all the Armo products we utilised to create the new loading bay are below:

AROD Insulated Sectional Overhead Door.

The door tracks are our galvanised steel ‘J’ type, which are designed to give free and easy running for bearing rollers. These tracks are mounted onto a heavy-duty galvanised jamb angle. The perimeter of the doors is fully sealed, as well as the intermediate panel joints, providing most effective weather seal to the door. Electrically operated with a manual override.

ARTL Telescopic Lip Dock Leveller

As the names suggests the dock leveller is suspended from its top edge allowing the underside of the pit to be clear for access by tail lifts. This gives clear access when docking the vehicles. This Model ARTL is in full Compliance with BS EN 1398.

ARPE Loading Dock Buffers

They are made from heavy duty solid rubber, fixed to a prime and painted solid steel backing plate using M24 fixings and the plate in turn is welded in position to provide a long-lasting solid fixing. They are energy absorbing Polyethylene low friction dock bumpers provided in yellow.

ARTR LED Traffic Lights

ARTR LED Traffic Lights are for the loading bay. The traffic lights were red over green LED lights, provided in fully sealed black moulded units, complete with small sun visors.   These are interlocked to the loading bay, so the light shows green when the door is closed and red whenever the door is open.

ARDL Dock Loading Lights

They are supplied and installed on the inside of the loading bay door which provides light into every corner of a docked trailer which improves visibility and helps prevent accidents occurring. The light is a 70W system, which was interlocked with the door so that when the door opens, the light will turn on and when the door closes, the light switches off.

ARBD Wheel Alignment Guides

The wheel guides are manufactured with soft radius bends and are supplied for installing centrally to the loading bay, circa 2000mm from the dock face. The reversing vehicle slots between the guides ensuring that the vehicle docks safely and centrally onto the loading bay.

Salvo Safety Systems

Salvo Safety Systems is a trapped key system ensures vehicles are securely docked before loading can take place and loading bay securely isolated before drivers can return to their vehicles and drive away. The secret of the Salvo system is that only one Salvo key exists per bay, thus ensuring that the door can only be opened ONCE the trailer has been secured in place. To ensure the integrity of the system, each bay will have a different code.
