Project for new load house for client in Exeter

A regular client of Armo, Dawson Rentals, came to us in November of 2016 to offer us the opportunity of working with them on a new project for DHL in Exeter.  Dawson Rentals are a leading UK specialist in asset rental.

We quoted for the ARLH Armo Load House, incorporating two bays.  The Load House is a fully constructed loading bay added on to a building façade, suitable for existing buildings or as new build. The model ARLH is provided as a complete installed package with all rainwater goods and flashings to seal to the building. We manufactured to the clients requirements, and supplied the load house at 7600mm width x 4800mm length x 5450mm height.

Incorporated into the load house were two ARTL Telescopic Lip Dock Levellers in a size of 2000mm nominal width, 3500 nominal length and a minimum pit depth of 610mm.  The operating parameters were 400mm both above and below dock. The lip length was 1000mm, complete with a 5° curvature for when loading above dock and the load capacity was 6 tonnes, strictly in accordance with the British Standard for dock levellers BS EN 1398.

We also supplied and installed two ARSR Retractable Dock Shelters which measured an overall width of 3400mm, overall height of 4150mm, projection was 900mm, the width of front curtain 650mm and the length of the head curtain 1600mm.

Our heavy duty retractable Dock Shelters are suitable for accommodating vehicles of varying heights and sizes whilst at the same time, providing an effective and accurate seal. Yellow guides incorporated within the front curtains assist the reversing vehicle.

Finally we supplied and installed two sets of ARDB Loading Dock Buffers, two ARTR LED Traffic Lights and two sets of ARBD Wheel Alignment Guides.

The dock buffers are made from heavy-duty solid rubber. These are fixed to a solid steel plate, which is in turn welded to the cast-in buffer to provide a long lasting fixing.

The wheel guides allow the reversing vehicle slots between the guides, ensuring that the vehicle docks safely and centrally onto the loading bay.

The traffic lights were red over green LED lights, provided in fully sealed black moulded units, complete with small sun visors. These are interlocked to the dock leveller, so that the light shows green when the leveller is parked and red whenever it is not parked.

Darrell Hopwood, Managing Director, said of this project “These load-houses are a bespoke design that are attached to the Dawson Refrigerated units, project completed on time and on budget”
