New Modular Docks & Loading Ramp for client in Oxford

We were first approached by the client, BMW, in May 2016.  They had a requirement for four Modular Docks, one with a loading ramp for a container bay. Armo used their expertise to be able to specify a complete solution. BMW appointed PJ Carey to be the contractors, and specified that Armo must be used.  We were able to quote for the whole project, including installation.

We supplied three standard model ARMD Modular Docks and one for the container bay incorporating a ramp, which are all steel constructed units, with a durbar chequer plate steel surface supported by hot rolled steel sections designed to accommodate the required load capacity.

Incorporated within the platform surfaces are the Armo model ARSL Swing Lip Dock Levellers supplied in a width of 2200mm, length of 3400mm with a minimum pit depth of 610mm.  The operating parameters of the dock leveller were 475mm above and 300mm below dock.  The dock leveller came with a one piece swing lip, complete with a 5° curvature for when loading above dock.

The container bay dock was served by a steel ramp that was 3000mm in length and 2450mm in width and was to be able to undertake a moving load (Forklift, operator & load) of up to 6000kg.

We also supplied and installed dock leveller control pedestals and Wheel Alignment Guides for the project, to allow the reversing vehicles to slot between the guides, ensuring that the vehicles dock safely and centrally onto the loading bay.

Darrell Hopwood, Managing Director said of this project “A great opportunity for us to show off what we can do. Working with a very low 900mm dock height we needed to provide a loading bay solution that would enable BMW to load both standard articulated trailers and container vehicle’s, which have a much higher bed height. I’m pleased to say we passed this test with flying colours”
