Wetherald Painters/Decorators and Building Services approached Armo in April to assist them with a refurbishment of 2 loading bays at an industrial Unit in Newton Ayecliffe. They required 2no pouring trays, 2no dock levellers, 2no sets of buffers, 2no roller shutter doors, 2no retractable dock shelters and 2no sets of wheel guides.
Armo’s Darrell Hopwood attended site in March and an order was placed for the loading bay equipment on the 10th of April 2017 with the installation being complete on the 14th of June.
The pouring trays we provided to suit the dock levellers had an overall width of 2400mm, a length of 2700mm and a depth of 610mm. They are manufactured with a suspended frame design with a reversed angle to allow the dock leveller to sit comfortably within the opening of the pouring tray. The trays are fixed down to a solid base and a dry concrete mix is packed around the tray ready for the final concrete pour to complete the pit.
The dock levellers are manufactured at a width of 2000mm, a length of 2500mm and a pit depth of 610mm. A Suspended frame was also supplied with the installation to support the Dock Leveller in the pit. The operating parameters of the Dock Leveller were 360mm above dock and 300mm below dock. The lip length was 400mm, complete with a 5° curvature for when loading above dock with a 6 tonne loading capacity in accordance with BS EN 1398.
To complete the installation of the dock levellers, 450mm x 250mm x 100mm Model ARDB loading dock buffers were provided. Armo buffers are manufactured from heavy duty solid rubber, normally fixed to a primed and painted solid steel backing plate using M24 fixings, the plate in turn is bolted back to the dock face and additionally welded to the dock leveller frame to provide a long lasting solid fixing.
Armo Supplied and installed 2no ARRS Roller Shutter Door with an opening width of 3000mm, opening height of 3500mm and a headroom of 500mm. The Door is manufactured using traditional 75mm deep scrolled interlocking lath. The lath is end locked to prevent lateral movement and the curtain is supplied complete with a bottom ‘T’ bar.

Armo supply and install heavy-duty retractable dock shelters that are suitable to accommodate vehicles of varying heights whilst at the same time providing an effective seal.
Armo’s Wheel Alignment Guides are manufactured with soft radius bends and are supplied for installing centrally to the loading bay. The reversing vehicle slots between the guides, ensuring that the vehicle docks safely and centrally onto the loading bay. These were supplied at a length of 2000mm and when installed are 300mm above the ground.
