TC Thomas invested in a new packing shed for their family run Egg Farm in Shrewsbury. They required 1no Swing Lip Dock Leveller, 1no Goods Lift, 1no pair of buffers with steel backing plates to suit, 1no Insulated Roller Shutter Door and 1no pair of Wheel Guides.

The Thomas family have been farming at Manor Farm, Shropshire since 1936, a successful dairy farm run firstly by Charles Thomas and later in partnership with his son Glyn.

Glyn took over the farm, moving the farming business forward, forming a strong working relationship with his wife Gwyneth.

Myles, one of their three children came home to farm in 1997 and soon joined the partnership; in 2006 the business changed direction. The cows were sold and their first free range hen house was built, housing 16000 birds for egg production, this proved to be successful and in 2009 it was decided to build another free range house, again housing another 16000 birds.

Armo received the order for the project in February and our project manager conducted a pre-installation survey in May, which allowed Armo to commence with the works early June.

Model ARSL Swing Lip Dock Leveller

The Dock Leveller Armo supplied and installed was manufactured with a suspended frame design at a width of 2000mm, a length of 2500mm and a pit depth of 610mm. The operating parameters of the Dock Leveller were 360mm above dock and 300mm below dock. The length of the lip was 400mm complete with a 5° curvature for when loading above dock. Our Model ARSL Sing Lip Dock Levellers provide a 6 tonne single axle load capacity strictly in accordance with the British standard for dock levellers BS EN 1398.

Model ARDB Loading Dock Buffers

To complete the installation of the dock levellers, 450mm x 250mm x 100mm Model ARDB loading dock buffers were provided. Armo buffers are manufactured from heavy duty solid rubber, normally fixed to a primed and painted solid steel backing plate using M24 fixings, the plate in turn is bolted back to the dock face and additionally welded to the dock leveller frame to provide a long lasting solid fixing.

Model ARRS Roller Shutter Door

Armo Supplied and installed 1no ARRS Roller Shutter Door with an opening width of 2500mm, opening height of 2500mm and a headroom of 500mm. The Door is manufactured using traditional 75mm deep scrolled interlocking lath. The lath is end locked to prevent lateral movement and the curtain is supplied complete with a bottom ‘T’ bar.

 Model ARDB Wheel Alignment Guides

Armo’s Wheel Alignment Guides are manufactured with soft radius bends and are supplied for installing centrally to the loading bay. The reversing vehicle slots between the guides, ensuring that the vehicle docks safely and centrally onto the loading bay. These were supplied at a length of 2000mm and when installed are 300mm above the ground.

Model ARGL Goods Lift

The purpose of the lift was to transfer eggs from one level to another, the unit was manufactured in a width of 1300mm, a length of 2100mm and a nominal depth of 320mm. The load capacity was 500kg for a partially distributed load, safety guarding on either long side, safety goalpost frame on one short side and a fully interlocked gate on the other short side, to complete the design PVC roller blinds were provided on both long sides and one short side

Safety with lifting tables is paramount and Armo lifts are fully compliant with BS EN 1570
